What is an Interior Designer?

The definition of an interior design is a multi-faceted profession in which creative and technical solutions are applied within a structure. These solutions are functional, enhance the quality of life and culture of the occupants and are aesthetically attractive. To me, that means being someone with a very creative eye for things that are aesthetically pleasing to more that one person. Many things go into interior design that a lot of people are not aware in my opinion. Interior designers deal with floor plans, blueprints, architecture, electrical plans, and all of the details that really encompass building a home or a business. I think that interior design is so great because you get a taste of what being an architecture is like, as well as doing the other things that really make somewhere complete and comfortable that no other occupation can do.
Growing up around a business owner and interior designer has really shaped my views on all of the work that truly needs to be done in an establishment to make it finished and perfect. The interior designers are responsible for all of it. The color schemes of the paint, along with the carpet and furniture can make or break a home, I think. When rendering and constructing the floor plans, an Interior Designer must know that the social areas of the home should have good distance between the quiet areas and the work areas should all be positioned relatively close to each other to create a natural flow of a home.
The big things interior designers do are so important but there are so many more little things that have to be done correctly for the bigger things to work. An interior designer is the missing puzzle piece to any home or building. They bring all the other jobs together for a finished product. This occupation or career really, incorporates every possible bit of design into one profession making an interior designer such a big part of the career world today.
